I chose to look for pictures that I could emulate for the animal photo assignment. My goal for this assignment is to be able to capture the personality of my cat and show it in an interesting way,. I chose this picture to emulate because the cat, the subject, fills the frame and shows the personality/action of the cat. Also, I plan to take pictures of my cat. I took inspiration from the way the eye stands out and is the focus of the picture. This picture is good because it shows the environment around the subject. I could do something like that for an animal in nature. I like this one because the cat is outside and the tail adds some interest. I really like this one because it shows more of the personality of the cat and the cat is stretched out in a unique way.

What I learnedFor this assignment, we learned how to use cameras on the auto setting. We also learned about how to make our photos look good through the use of composition rules. I have already taken black and white photography, so I had a decent understanding of these rules already. Lastly, we learned how to upload and photoshop our photos. Rule of thirdsI placed my subject to the right and her camera is on the top line. PatternThe repeating 1's and 0's create an interesting pattern across the field. SymmetryThe same colors on each side and the railings split the image. TextureTwo contradicting textures are side by side: the smooth rocks and the rough wood chips. Depth of FieldThe plant is in focus, while the background is blurred out. LinesThere are lines going across the field and the carvings break them up slightly. FramingMy subject is framed by the door. The picture is pretty dark and a bit blurry though. PerspectiveThe viewer is looking up at the flower instead of down. SpaceThe tree takes up the whole space. Very little space is left unused. BalanceThe eye is drawn all over the picture. One side isn't heavier than the other. ColorThe contrasting colors, red and green, really stand out against one another.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Sarah Rose and I am a senior at Saline High School. I play lacrosse and am part of the debate team here at school. Politics and community service are what really interest me outside of school and I'm happy to say that I am part of the senior capstone class that is based off of service learning. Also, I will be taking a trip down to Haiti to build wells and bring water to communities that need that resource badly. To be completely honest, I took digital photography because I need a tech credit to graduate. However, I did take the black and white photography course and did like taking pictures. So, I'm excited to see where the class can take me and teach me.
